A week-long crackdown on anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and off-road bikes, has resulted in £1.6m worth of drugs being seized and 35 people being arrested.

Officers also seized 12 vehicles and off-road bikes as well as thousands of pounds worth of cash after carrying out a number of warrants.

Cleveland Police’s Neighbourhood Teams from Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland all took part in a national Neighbourhood Week of Action last week.

In Redcar and Cleveland, seven off-road bikes/ vehicles believed to be involved in criminal activity and a suspected stolen caravan worth £20k were seized in addition to class A/B drugs, imitation firearms and bullets, offensive weapons and £4k cash.

While in Middlesbrough, two houses on Aire Street and Ayresome Street were subject to closure orders as a result of suspected drugs activity with help from colleagues from Middlesbrough Council.

An estimated £380k worth of cannabis was reportedly seized from three properties in Thornaby, Norton and Parkfield. And a number of weapons and drugs paraphernalia were also seized by the Stockton team.

Over in Hartlepool, £1.2 million pounds worth of cannabis was seized as a result of three drugs warrants being executed and three motorbikes and two quad bikes, which were believed to be involved in criminal activity, were also seized.

Local Policing Superintendent Marc Anderson said: “Neighbourhood officers went above and beyond to crack down on drugs, off-road bikes, antisocial behaviour and other criminal activity over the course of the week.

“This week of action was an excellent of way to highlight to the public what neighbourhood teams do all year round.
