A new dessert and coffee shop has opened in Darlington this month and is looking forward to welcoming residents.

Little Aden, a shop which specialises in desserts and coffee situated on Bondgate in Darlington, opened its doors to residents earlier this month (January 5) after experiencing several delays.

Natalia Czech, manager of Little Aden, from Darlington, said she was delighted to welcome customers to the shop, and thanked all the "lovely" people who have already paid them a visit.

Meanwhile, she said the store's opening has not been without its challenges and cited the company's social media page being restricted and the current cost of living crisis as trials which the business has had to overcome in its first month.

Speaking on Little Aden's opening and what lies ahead, Ms Czech said: "Due to delays, we decided to open in January, we announced that the day before our opening.

"We had a few customers outside the door waiting for us to open, our first couple of days we had a lot of curious people coming in, we had some lovely customers. It's been great.

"It's definitely challenging, the costs of bills and everything else, these sort of things, when you look at it, it's difficult to open a business.

"However, we've made it now and we're just looking forward and thinking positive.

It also offers an assortment of beverages such as hot chocolate, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and juice.

The Bondgate building occupied by Little Aden was previously operated by shoe giant Clarks, before it closed its doors.

The store, which is owned by Adel Djamai, will initially be open between 10am to 6pm, before reviewing its hours after it joins delivery giant, Just Eat.

Ms Czech said the business had originally operated in Birmingham, before being acquired and moved to Darlington.
