Barningham is a tiny conservation village that is home to Barningham Park, which is owned by Sir Edward and Lady Natalie Milbank, whose family have owned the surrounding 7,000-acre Barningham and Holgate Estate since 1690.

Barningham has around 60 houses.

It has a large village green, a church, a village hall used by local groups and a recently restored pub. It is on the edge of moors stretching westwards to Cumbria and is a good base for walking the local dales and hills.
