County Durham residents have been left delighted after witnessing a video of a young boy living his dream after riding alongside his police heroes on his toy bike.

Harry from County Durham received a surprise after he was able to live his dream, leading a squad of officers on patrol from his Christmas present, an electric police bike.

After hearing of Harry's Christmas gift, Durham Police's Roads and Policing team said they could not help but pay him a visit, giving him a wholesome experience he will never forget.

After the heartwarming video was posted online, residents were left delighted at the sight of a jubliant Harry riding round the neighbourhood with his heroes.

In a post online, one resident said: "That’s so cool. Well done to the Police for making his dreams come true."

While another happy resident said: "Well done officers, such a nice thing to do, loving it being a biker myself."

Another resident said: "Totally awesome, well done Harry. Massive shout out to Durham Roads Policing Team. Brilliant gesture, totally awesome work by all."

Adding to this, another delighted resident said: "Absolutely amazing. Our police force get such a bad press at times and I think people forget the reason why they do their job. To protect us. Well done guys truly amazing."

Meanwhile, Durham Police said Harry had recently had a "truly awful time" and they were proud of his work.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Meet future PC Harry! Harry has had a truly awful time recently, and when we heard how much he loves his new Christmas present, a Police bike, we had to pay him a visit!

"Harry professionally led us round his street in full uniform."
