Your Northern Echo is on the move - but only a short walk from its historic Priestgate offices.

While a major refurbishment takes place at our old home, Echo editorial and commercial staff will be moving to amazing new Grade-A town centre offices at Coniscliffe House on Coniscliffe Road, Darlington.

The terraced property has been transformed from traditional offices into highly sustainable, hybrid space with a range of working and collaborative areas, including break-out spaces and meeting rooms, combined with a high-end, contemporary interior.

It is already home to businesses like architects Corstorphine & Wright and law firm Latimer Hinks will open a new office there later this year. The Echo's last day at Priestgate will be January 27 and we hope to be in the new offices within a few weeks.

Newsquest's Regional MD David Coates said: "The Echo has left Priestgate so the building's new owners, Darlington Borough Council, can press on with its vital redevelopment plans - but we will certainly be talking to them again about a permanent home when that work is finished.

"It's another exciting phase for The Northern Echo and I am pleased we are able to offer our staff such superb offices so that we can all continue to support the town and its people and work with outstanding North East businesses."

The ground floor at Priestgate is set to be refurbished and converted into an adult learning centre by the Council, while the future of the upper three floors is still being planned.

Northern Echo Editor Gavin Foster said it was always the first priority that the company stayed at the heart of the town.

"Darlington has evolved so much since The Echo was launched more than 150 years ago, but through all that time we have stayed loyal to the town, fighting for its people and that will never change.

"Coniscliffe House looks amazing and will be such a great place for our staff to work from. Nothing else changes, same Echo online and in print, same principles, same people, just a different address."
