A date for popular TV show Vera to return to ITV has been confirmed after fans have been left waiting for the last two episodes of series 11.

In August 2021, Covid delayed the start of production of Vera, but the eleventh series of the smash hit Sunday night drama still made its debut on our TV screens.

However, ITV viewers were left disappointed when it was then pulled from TV schedules after just two episodes - leading to many questioning when it would return.

The series resumed at the start of 2022, only for the same thing to happen again.

Fans got to see episode three of series 11, which involved a pursuit through South Shields' famous Ocean Beach theme park and episode four before it disappeared from TV guides for a second time in six months.

Despite all of the anger and confusion - fans of the detective show can rest easy because it's now been announced that it's returning.

Vera will return to screens on Sunday, January 15 at 8pm, right after the launch of the new series of Dancing on Ice.

The news was confirmed in a very brief tweet posted by ITV Press Centre on Wednesday afternoon, which read: "Confirmed: Vera returns Sunday 15 January at 8pm on @ITV1 and @ITVX.

It was then confirmed that the first episodes to air would be the last two from series 11, which will be followed by four brand new ones from series 12.
