A year in pictures for 2022 include the late Queen Elizabeth II, children fleeing from the war in Ukraine, and various cultural and sporting events.
Images include Switzerland players gathering before a women’s hockey game against Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics; and Highland dancers performing on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle at this year’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Also featured is a reveller lying in a puddle of squashed tomatoes during the annual “Tomatina”, tomato fight fiesta in the village of Bunol near Valencia, Spain.
The last photo ever taken of the Queen showing her appointing new British Prime Minister Liz Truss is also included, as is the image of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Louis on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the Trooping the Colour ceremony at Horse Guards Parade, central London, as the Queen celebrated her official birthday, on day one of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
