Durham Police has confirmed that they dealt with eight sudden deaths on Christmas Day, as the police force revealed they saw 329 breaking incidents on December 25th alone.

Documenting how many incidents it turned up to on Christmas Day, Durham Police posted online, highlighting some of the 'stand out' incidents it had been required at over the festive period.

Within the breakdown of incidents, officers tragically attended eight sudden deaths, according to the post, alongside a whole host of other serious incidents.

As well as attending the death, police attended their first call on Christmas Day just 11 minutes into the day; a catalytic converter stolen from a car parked on a Chester-le-Street industrial estate.

This was followed by officers attending a fight outside a Chester-le-Street pub, a parking dispute in Darlington, three road collisions, looked for two escaped horses in the south of the county, and located six missing people.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "We don’t stop for Christmas, we’re here for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Less than one third of the incidents we deal with are reports of crime.
