Three-year-old Beatrix Adamson had her dream come true when she was visited by her favourite dinosaurs while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Bea, who was admitted into hospital aged 15 months with heart failure in May 2022, spends her time in hospital on specific cardiac unit being kept alive by a mechanical heart called a Berlin Heart until a suitable donor can be found.

The family have been supported by Rainbow Trust since they were referred shortly after Bea’s diagnosis and they have described their family support worker Monica as “invaluable”.

Bea’s dad Terry, from Burnopfield, said: "Monica knows we worry the second we leave Bea in hospital, so she keeps us up to date with everything that is going on and sends photo updates all the time.

"It puts our mind at ease and Bea loves spending time with Monica, her face brightens when she walks into her room.

"Time is a precious thing when you do not know what is around the corner and Monica’s support makes that easier for us.”

When the opportunity for the dinosaur to surprise Bea at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, the family were thrilled.

Terry said: "When Monica with the kind help of Big Foot Events offered to arrange a special visit of dinosaurs to the hospital we were delighted.

"Bea is absolutely obsessed by them and has several dinosaur books and toys but has never seen anything like this before.

"They are her favourite creatures and it was such a delight to see her face light up when they arrived.

“Bea has a long journey ahead of her.

"Waiting for a suitable donor heart is a long and gruelling process.

"But with the support from Rainbow Trust and Freeman Hospital, Bea is given the chance to fight, and her we are given the chance to make memories that they will cherish forever.

"Helping to make Bea’s dinosaur dreams come true is another special family moment for us”.
