As snow and ice continue to wreak havoc across the UK today, we’ve had a looked to see if the North East will see anymore snow.

Although some areas have seen a light dusting, much of the region has been spared any major snow fall.

A yellow warning for snow and ice continues to be in place from Midnight this morning until 12pm on Thursday.

The warning covers much of the North East coast all the way down to North Yorkshire.

Will there be anymore snowfall this week?

Cold and freezing temperatures are set to continue throughout the week leading to mostly icy conditions and some wintery showers.

However, according to the Met Office, dry weather will be the most prevalent meaning we are unlikely to see similar snowfall as last week.

Looking further ahead into next week and beyond, however, the forecaster has said there is likely to be periods of snow for many regions.

Weather forecaster and radar, WXCharts has predicted heavy snow could hit the region on Sunday, December 18.

Up to 5cm of snow could fall this weekend according to the weather forecaster.

It comes as the Met Office last night recorded the coldest night and day of the year.

Braemer, in Aberdeenshire, was the coldest place in the UK, recording a low of minus 15.7C and a high of minus 9.3C, the lowest minimum temperature since February 2021 and the lowest maximum in 12 years.

The five next coldest temperatures all recorded in Scotland, including minus 13.1C at Balmoral.
