Fresh from her win on ITV's I'm a Celebrity, the North East's own Jill Scott has surprised a  bar owner in the region by visiting a popular local venue near her hometown.

After battling trials with creepy crawlies, and snakes and eating strange delicacies, the Queen of the Jungle was in more familiar surroundings after she paid a visit to Tin of Sardines in Roker on Sunday (December 4).

Originally from Fulwell in Sunderland, the shock and surprise that Jill created from her homecoming was perfectly captured in the social media post from Tin of Sardines - as they were so excited to see her.

Before entering the jungle, Jill had enjoyed a footballing career, which began in Sunderland, before taking her on a path to Everton, Manchester City, and Aston Villa.

The midfielder, who retired from football in the summer after representing her country 161 times, returned to the UK last week and it didn’t take her long to get back to her home turf of Sunderland.

Jill, who now lives in Manchester, still has plenty of family in Sunderland and visited the venue for breakfast when the owners couldn't resist getting a photo with the Lioness.

It's been a great last 12 months for Jill after becoming Queen of the Jungle and winning the European Championships with England Women's Team.

Posting on social media, Tin of Sardines said: "I‘m a Celebrity, Get Me … to Tins!

"Look who popped in for breakfast with her family.

"Queen of the Jungle and ex-England Lioness, Jill Scott.

"What a lass, too. Here she is with our manager, Chris, and our Kelly."

A total of 10.1 million viewers tuned in to the recent I’m A Celeb final, ITV said, making it the highest-rated since football manager Harry Redknapp won in 2018.
