Police have launched an investigation after three balaclava-clad men tried, and failed, to make off with a golf buggy.

The incident happened last week (Monday November 28) at an event in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough when three men on two mopeds between them threatened event staff at knife-point to hand over the keys to a golf buggy.

One of the suspects held the large blade to a staff member’s throat while demanding the keys be handed over.

The keys were handed over, but the attempted robbers were unable to make their getaway on the golf buggy, and left in the direction of Ladgate Lane.

The suspects were not wearing helmets and were riding one red and one black moped between them.

One is described as having a Liverpool accent and wearing a blue Berghaus jacket.
