An investigation has been launched after reports of a deliberate fire being set at a North East car dealership last week.

Police have launched an investigation after receiving reports of a deliberate fire set at a car sales room on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough last Thursday (November 24).

Cleveland Police received the report from Fire Brigade colleagues at 9:45pm.

Since then, a joint investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze.

Police are now appealing for informationa about the fire, and have asked members of the public dashcam or CCTV footage which might have captured the incident.

A Cleveland police spokesperson said: "Police received a report from Fire Brigade colleagues at 9.45pm last night (Thursday) that a car sales room on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough had been deliberately set alight.

"A joint investigation into the blaze is underway and we would appeal for anyone with information/dash cam or CCTV"
