Primark is reportedly planning to open a new store at a busy North East retail park.

The discount fashion giant is planning to open four brand new locations across the UK as part of a £140m investment plan in its stores.

The plans will see a new store opened in our region at Teesside Park.

Other new branches will be opened at Bury St Edmunds, Craigavon and Salisbury, according to reports in The Sun.

The plans are reportedly set to create at least 850 new jobs nationally and increase the brand’s UK selling space by 160,000ft.

The new Primark store on Teesside will be the latest addition to retail park's offering after The Works opened its doors there last month. Canadian fast-food chain Tim Hortons also opened a restaurant at the site earlier this year.

And plans are also in place for a Victoria's Secret branch to open a 'store within a store' within the Next branch.

It comes after the retailer launched a trial of a new click and collect service at 25 stores across the country earlier this month.

The trial marks the first time Primark has offered customers the option to buy online and collect in stores having previously stayed out of the online shopping scene.

But the company has held back on home deliveries, instead focussing on bringing people into its stores.

Earlier this month the boss of Primark’s parent company said they will not push up prices by more than already planned despite rapidly rising costs.

Primark like-for-like sales have broadly returned to pre-Covid levels in the UK.

The news comes on Black Friday as shoppers try to hunt out some of the best bargains ahead of the festive period.
