A big-name restaurant brand has revealed when it will open its newest venue at the Metrocentre – and there’s not long to wait.

Popular restaurant chain Tapas Revolution will unveil its new North East restaurant on Saturday, November 19 and promises to bring a taste of Spain to the Metrocentre.

The venue will open at 11.30am on Saturday following a six-figure investment, with the first 100 people in the queue set to receive a complimentary dish to try from the main menu and one customer will also win a £100 gift card.

Bosses at the restaurant say diners can expect an ‘extensive menu’ with tapas classics including tortilla, croquetas and chorizo. There will also be a host of sangrias, Spanish beers and vegan and vegetarian options.

James Picton, Tapas Revolution’s Managing Director told The Northern Echo: “We have had ambitions to open in the Metrocentre for a while now and with the North East having such a rich historic culture and a diverse food scene, we feel the Tapas Revolution brand, culture and flavours will sit perfectly here.

“It’s so important to us that we take time to search for the right location, and I’m delighted that our new restaurant in the Qube at the Metrocentre fits the bill perfectly.

“We pride ourselves in creating a menu full of flavours and Mediterranean culture, serving dishes that taste like tapas you experience in Spain, alongside our authentic Spanish hospitality, the relaxed vibe at Tapas Revolution centres around Spain’s culinary culture of sharing, socialising and eating.

The new restaurant is the brand’s eleventh in the UK and only location in the North East, with sites in London, Sheffield, Birmingham and Liverpool.

Twenty-five new jobs have been created by the arrival of the new restaurant which can sit up to 115 diners.

The brand was founded in 2010 by chef Omar Allibhoy Cuende who has made appearances on numerous TV shows including This Morning, Sunday Brunch, Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen.

Tapas Revolution in Gateshead will be located in the Upper Yellow Mall of the Qube in the Metrocentre and will be open daily from 11.30am.
