MEMBERS of The Northern Echo's promotions team have been out in the region this week dressed as daffodils to remind readers that the paper is going green.
Wednesday is World Environment Day, and for one issue only, The Northern Echo will be printed on green paper.
Editor Peter Barron said: "We hope people will pick it up and say what is going on?'.
"If they do, we will have succeeded, because we want people to start questioning the way we treat the environment."
For the first time in the paper's 138-year history, it will be renamed and appear as The Northern Eco.
As well as the usual mix of news, sport and features, the paper will include a 52-page supplement in collaboration with the Association of North East Councils.
It will contain examples of what people are doing to help
