Motorists are continuing to feel the pinch at the pumps as petrol prices have started to rise yet again.

The average cost of a litre of unleaded petrol was 165.94p on Sunday, according to data from RAC Fuel Watch, up 3p on the beginning of the month.

Meanwhile the price of diesel is rocketed to 189.16p per litre on average on Sunday, compared to 176.53p earlier this month. (as of October 6).

And the RAC predicts the price of diesel will rise further in the coming days.

Drivers have reported prices at many forecourts across the North East as having gone up by around 5p per litre on earlier this month.

However, prices are still lower than they were at their peak around July this year when some forecourts started charging £2 a litre.
