Two people have been left hospitalised after a crash on the A690 in County Durham on Thursday (October 20) morning.

The road was blocked with large queues of traffic forming while emergency services dealt with the multi-vehicle incident at around 9.30am.

One person was taken to University Hospital North Durham by paramedics while another made their own way to hospital.

A spokesperson for Durham Police confirmed that four vehicles were involved in the crash.

They said: “Police were alerted at 9.33am today to a collision on the High Street, in Langley Moor, Durham, involving four vehicles.

“Paramedics also attended as two people were believed to have sustained injuries in the incident.

“The road was blocked for a short time to allow for recovery of the vehicles involved and is now open.”

The road reopened at around 11.30am once emergency services had moved on from the scene.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called to a three-car road traffic collision in Langley Moor at 9.24am this morning.

“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance. One person was assessed and discharged at the scene, another made their own way to hospital and we transported one patient to University Hospital of North Durham.”
