A Darlington restaurant has been named one of the best in the UK after a prestigious event.

The Raby Hunt, found at Summerhouse near Darlington, was one of the many names listed as one of the most exciting places to eat in the country.

Eating out bible, The Good Food Guide, announced the list at a star-studded event in London this week.

The popular and much-loved Darlington restaurant, which also currently holds two Michelin stars, scored number four in the top ten list.

It was the only County Durham venue to make the list, alongside places such as the three-starred L’Enclume in Cumbria which took first place, Lancashire’s Moor Hall and Ynyshir in Ceredigion.

Chef patron, James Close, who first opened The Raby Hunt in 2009 and has picked up a number of awards across the years said the award was “a real achievement.”

He added: “To have been placed number four out of the entire country – and up against such incredible opposition is a real achievement for both me and the entire team.

“It shows our commitment and continued striving for perfection has paid off.”

Along with achieving two Michelin stars, the restaurant has been named in the National Restaurant Awards and has been listed in the top 100 places to eat.
