A HOTEL manager has been found guilty of placing a camera in a guest bedroom in order to watch a couple having sex.
Clarence Birkbeck denied committing voyeurism at the Castle Court hotel in Redcar last year, but the 67-year-old admitted placing the device in one of the bedrooms. However, he claimed it was only to see if the couple were taking drugs.
Guisborough Magistrates Court heard how 67-year-old Birkbeck, of Newcomen Terrace, Redcar, deliberately set up the camera to focus on the four poster bed in his B and B.
Chair of the bench, Maureen Rider, warned Birkbeck that he could be facing a custodial sentence. He will be sentenced on July 3.
