A boy, 9, and a 67-year-old man have been rushed to hospital after a crash between a car and two pedestrians - which left the boy with a fractured skull. 

Emergency services attended the scene at Yarm Road in Eaglesclife on Saturday (October 15) at around 3.40pm following reports of a serious collision. 

Police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours to allow them to work.

Following the reopening of the road, Cleveland Police have confirmed the details of the serious collision, which involved a green VW Tiguan colliding with a man and a child after it's believed the driver of the vehicle had a 'medical episode' at the wheel.

The 9-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, where he will remain overnight for treatment to a fractured skull.

A 46-year-old man was also taken to James Cook University Hospital where received treatment for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

The 67-year-old driver was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "At 3.40pm this afternoon (Saturday 15th October), a green VW Tiguan collided with a man and a child on Yarm Road after it is believed the driver may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel."
