As temperatures are expected to plummet next week and fears of early snow have been raised, we’ve had a look at what you can expect this weekend.

Today many have been greeted by mostly showery and wet weather with chances of rain becoming locally heavy.

Conditions are set to improve with brighter skies developing to the north during the afternoon before more showers follow.

Temperatures are set to be near to normal today with a maximum temperature of 14c predicted.

Tonight, conditions will be largely dry with clear spells developing overnight.

Some fog patches could be possible due to chilly points in rural areas.

Bands of rain, which could sometimes be locally heavy, are set to arrive from the west by dawn and a minimum temperature of 4c has been predicted.

What’s the weather like on Saturday?

Moving into Saturday bands of “squally rain” will move eastwards across all parts of the region in the morning.

Brighter skies will arrive during the afternoon before more showers during the evening.

It will be mostly windy with gusty conditions for some and a maximum temperature of 13c has been predicted.

In Darlington tomorrow, temperatures are set to reach highs of 13c with th afternoon being sunny between 10am and 10pm.

In Durham, the picture is much the same with temperatures being around 13c and sunny spells throughout the afternoon.

What will the weather be like on Sunday?

Early rain and strong winds will clear on Sunday to leave drier and brighter conditions.

Temperatures could be slightly warmer towards the end of the weekend with Darlington set to reach temperatures of 14c and much of the day seeing sunny conditions.

Durham will see similar conditions with the afternoon being quite bright and sunny and escaping the rain.

In Hartlepool the picture is similar, however, more cloud is expected than in other areas.
