Police are appealing to the public to help find a veteran who was reported missing last week.

Northumbria Police are appealing to the public to help find Kevin Appleby, a veteran from Spennymoor, after he was reported missing on Wednesday, October 5.

Police have said Mr Appleby has links to the Northumberland area and enquiries are ongoing.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Kevin Appleby from Spennymoor was reported missing to Durham Constabulary on October 5.

“Northumbria Police have taken over the search.

“Kevin has links to the Northumberland area and enquiries are on-going to trace him."

Beacon Alert are an organisation who help find UK veterans and military service personnel who have gone missing.

They said they are seriously concerned over Mr Appleby's welfare, as he has not shown up for work and attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful.

They have asked anyone with information to contact Spennymoor Police.
