Darlington’s huge South Park firework display is set to make an explosive comeback next month, with tickets available from next week.

The huge event is being held on November 5 and promises a firework display, light show, street food stalls, and fairground attractions for all the family.

It will be the first time in 11 YEARS that the bonfire night event will be held in Darlington.

Entry to the display will be free, but anyone wishing to attend will need to collect a wristband to get into the park.

Councillor Jonathan Dulston, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: “The fireworks promises to be a night to remember, with something for everyone.

“We’ve got our Fantasy Fireworks display, a quieter show that’s ideal for children or those who need a more relaxed experience.

“Then later on we’ll have our Licence to Thrill show lighting up the night sky with a James Bond-inspired explosion of light, sound and colour.

“And that’s not all – you can expect a glittering line-up of things to see and do throughout the evening, including street food stalls, fairground rides and fire and light performers.

“So don’t delay in getting your wristbands when the collection period opens next week!”


How to get tickets

Although the event will be free, anyone wishing to attend will have to collect a wristband to gain entry on the night.

From Monday, wristbands will be available to collect for Darlington residents only, and you may be asked to show a utility bill for proof of address.

Wristbands will be available from:

  • The Dolphin Centre
  • Head of Steam Darlington Railway Museum
  • Cockerton Library
  • Firthmoor Community Centre

Darlington Council has said you must be over 16 to collect wristbands, but the event is suitable for all ages. You will also be asked to give your name, phone number and email address which the council have reassured residents will not be shared with anyone else.
