STUDENTS from Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) will get the chance to speak with potential employers and business advisors at an event in Hartlepool tomorrow.
The Hartlepool Enterprise Team, based in the town's Enterprise Centre, in Brougham Terrace, will be on hand to advise students interested in setting up their own businesses. They will be joined by representatives of Business Link, Digital City, the Prince's Trust, Arts Development officers and gallery owners.
Lianne Hubbert, lecturer on the BA (Hons) textiles and surface design degree at CCAD, said: "The event is aimed at the students who are due to graduate from the degree and foundation degree programmes this year.
"It will give them the chance to speak to a range of people about what they want to do next."
The event takes place at Hartlepool Historic Quay between 11am and 1pm.
Ms Hubbert said: "Traditionally, the majority of design students have headed down to London after finishing their degrees, but we want to show that does not have to be the case.
"Students in subjects such as textiles usually work on a selfemployed basis.
"They can have agents in London working on their behalf, but with the great rail links we have now, and the ease of communications, there is no reason why they can't have their studios here."
