Great Ayton's Afridi repeats nine-wicket feat THEY say lightning doesn't strike twice, but it does in the Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League.

Pakistani International Riaz Afridi destroyed Northallerton on their home patch last season with a burst of nine wickets for 16 runs, and amazingly he repeated the dose yesterday as he sent down 20 rapid overs and picked up 9-37 to send the home team to an early tea with only 126 to their name.

Yet this didn't prove to be a match winning effort as the Great Ayton top order collapsed for the second time in three days, with Richard Chandler their tormentor with an 11 over spell that returned figures of 6-23.

A century for Gary Pratt, which included 17 fours, set Bishop Auckland on the way to a score of 219-3 against Redcar and then four wickets apiece for Ben Usher and Matthew Atkinson reduced the visitors to 124 all out and continued their misery at the bottom of the table.

At the other end of the league Guisborough clawed back three points on leaders Middlesbrough when they inflicted Richmond's second defeat of the weekend.
