Liz Truss is set to appear on local BBC radio stations across the country this morning (September 29) taking questions from voters, including Teessiders.

The new Prime Minister will be on BBC Radio Tees this morning shortly after 8.30am in series of interviews with the broadcaster’s local channels.

She will be on Radio Tees at exactly 8.38am on Thursday morning with the station reportedly having a seven-minute slot to cram in questions.

You will be able to listen on FM or DAB radio and via BBC Sounds.

The station teased the interview on Twitter on Wednesday evening, asking listeners for questions for the PM.

The interviews will be the first time Liz Truss has answered questions from journalists since her Chancellor’s ‘mini budget’ on Friday last week and the turmoil on the markets which has followed.

Starting at starting at 8am with BBC Radio Leeds, the PM will then be interviewed at 8.08am by Norfolk, 8.15am Kent, 8.22am Lancashire, 8.30am Nottingham, 8.38am Tees, 8.45am Bristol and 8.52am Stoke.

Treasury chief secretary Chris Philp refused to apologise for the financial turmoil caused by Kwasi Kwarteng’s mini-budget in an interview this morning.

After the Bank of England was forced to step in to calm the markets, Mr Philp told Sky News: “No one’s perfect but I’m not going to apologise for having a plan to grow the economy.

“I am certainly not going to apologise for having an energy intervention which is protecting every single household in this country.”
