Norton & Stockton Ancients Under 15's secured their 4th 1st Division title in 5 seasons with an emphatic 9-2 victory over a game Kader side. NASA were clearly up for this game scoring 4 times in the first 20 minutes through Allison, Livingstone, Turner and Nicholson when leading scorer Livingstone added a fifth just before half time the game was over. NASA keeper Andy Martin had to go off following a typically brave challenge and Kader scored the goal of the night with a screaming 30 yarder. The irrepressible Allison made it 6-1 and after a scrambled second for Kader, Tom Booth returned to show his quality and make it 7-2, an Adam Todd classic run and crashing shot and a good individual effort from Christian Carson made it 9-2.

Congratulations to everyone deserved Champions with every member of this top quality squad playing a major part in this successful campaign. Special thanks to Gary Hinchley, Steve Ritchie, Paul Walton, Helen Hinchley and Alan & Jenny Curnow because behind every great team is another great team.

It is clear Norton do not travel well! Despite a good warm-up, and plenty of spark before the match, Norton went to sleep almost immediately. Norton's passing game was poor, with many passes going astray, and the ball spending too much time in air, in breezy conditions. For all this Norton did dominate possession, and kept Beamish down to only a few chances, all of which were either snuffed out by a resolute defence, or by the very capable Saunders in goal. Norton made it to half-time managing only one half chance, which fell to Naisbitt, who blasted over the bar from the edge of the area. After half time, Norton found themselves caught on the break by a swift Beamish counterattack, and conceded a well taken goal. This finally seemed to give Norton the shock they needed to start playing the football they can play. Within 15 minutes Norton had scored three goals and the game was effectively over. Naisbitt scoring the first following great work from Basnett on the left; Naisbitt also scored the second with a confident finish, after being put through by a superb pass from Thomas. Thomas then broke from half way against a flat and static Beamish defence to race clear and finish with consummate ease. The game then drifted again into a scrappy affair, with Norton only really creating one more clear chance, which came to Bell, but she was hustled off the ball by a determined Beamish defence. It was great to finish the league season with a win, but really only a 6/10 performance.

Norton & Stockton Ancients vs Radcliffe (Girls U13) 3 - 2 Just a short report on a friendly played by the girls on Sunday afternoon. The match was against Radcliffe from Nottingham, who were an U14s girl's side. The girls played exceptionally well, taking a 2-0 lead, goals from Naisbitt and Thomas, before being pegged back to 2-2 midway through the second half. However, Norton showed great spirit to score a third and winning goal through Bell, 10 minutes from time. It was a super performance against girls who were generally older and more physically mature than Norton, however Norton's passing game counted for more than size, and Norton had some great spells in the match. All the girls contributed to the win, and it was especially pleasing to see Nicol be heavily involved in the third goal. Thomas deserves the highest praise with an exceptional performance of high quality, hardly a pass going astray. Well done girls, it was a great way to finish the regular season.

Norton U11A's took the lead midway through the first half when Sonni Coleman scored for the fifth game running. A much improved Thirsk side equalised with a tap in after Norton failed to clear. Thirsk took the lead towards the end of the half when a corner was headed in at the far post. Norton pushed for an equaliser in the second half and the best chance fell to Harvey Swann but his shot was well saved. Thirsk defended well and in a close game they ran out 2-1 winners. Best on the day was the excellent Joe Randall. N&SA U11A 1v2 Thirsk Falcons Team: K Buckingham, B Kemp, B Phillips, J Randall, M Graham (N Twizell), D Gardner (A Thompson), J Vaughan (L Van Hoof), J Rayner, J Greenan, E Oswald (H Swann) & S Coleman.

In a relaxed approach to this game only pride was at stake for Norton U10A's in their last league fixture of the season with the Fleetwood Cup and the League Cup Final still to play. Norton opened the scoring against Seaton Carew with a neatly worked goal from Michael Walls 0-1. Despite several efforts to further there lead Norton where unable to find a way past the man of the match Seaton keeper. In the second half it was Norton who again showed the way, more chances were not taken advantage of when caught on the break by Seaton, making the final score Seaton 1 - Norton 1. Man of the match Michael Walls. In the friendly James Thompson proved his place for next season and Norton once again showed Seaton how to play good passing football who came out 3-4 winners. Both games were fun for all the players with all enjoying the chance to relax and enjoy their football without pressure. Man of the match Matthew Bowman. Phil and Chris thank all the Players, Parents, Grandparents and those who have been committed throughout this season. We both look forward to working towards 08/09. Final Score 1-1.

Team, Ben Jackson, Callum Brentley, Callum Robinson, Callum Wilson (GK), Cameron Wilson, Joe Thompson, Mathew Bowman, Michael Walls and Mitchell Little.

Norton & Stockton Ancients Under 15's 9 v Kader JFC 2 Norton U11A's travelled to South Bank to play California Boys on a blustery Thursday evening. Norton were forced into changes due to the illness of goalkeeper Keelan Buckingham and the unavailability of top scorer Harvey Swann. Ben "the cat" Kemp stood in for Keelan and Ethan "ozzy" Oswald replaced Harv. Norton faced the strong wind in the first half and were penned in for long periods but the well marshalled defence of Nat Twizell, Jason Vaughan, Ben Phillips and Joe Randall kept Cally at bay. For all Cally pressure they failed to create anything worthwhile and it was Norton that looked dangerous on the break. Ben Kemp in goal looked confident and assured and his kicking was proving to be a big plus against the wind. Norton took a first half lead when a good move down the right involving Jason Vaughan and Ozzy saw the ball crossed and the smallest player on the pitch scored a brave header, his fourth header of the season. Norton continued to withstand the Cally pressure and defended well until a throw in was not cleared and a Cally forward cut in from the left and shot hard and low giving "the cat" no chance. Norton saw out the rest of the half without too many scares. HT 1-1. With the advantage of the wind in the second half Norton reverted back to there favoured formation and had Cally on the back foot straight away. The first chance fell to "mini" Greenan who shot narrowly wide, soon after Michael Graham fed Ethan "ozzy" Oswald who placed a low shot wide of the keeper and into the bottom corner of the net for his first ever Norton goal. Norton continued to push and looked for a killer third goal, Sonni Coleman battled well down the right but his cross evaded everyone. Norton made a change as Luis Van Hoof replaced goal scorer Ozzy. Josh Rayner was the next to have a go, beating his man before firing a right footed shot wide. Norton got the third goal there play had deserved in the last minute as Dan Gardner played a ball over the top for Sonni Coleman to head forward before hitting a great shot high over the keepers head into the back of the net. From the kick off Cally pressed and were awarded a penalty which just beat the dive of Ben Kemp. Shortly afterwards the referee blew for full time. FT 2-3. Team: B Kemp, J Vaughan, N Twizell, B Phillips, J Randall, M Graham (D Gardner), A Thompson, E Oswald (L Van Hoof), J Rayner, J Greenan & S Coleman. A solid performance from all the lads against a good California Boys side. They battled well in the first half before pushing forward in the second, a very professional display. A "mini" header, Ozzy's first ever goal for Norton and a beauty from Sonni saw us take the three points and push Norton a little further up the league table. A great team performance. California Boys 2v3 N&SA U11A Norton U15 Girls entered this cup semi final with the fuse lit against California Belles and were two goals to the good in the opening 4 minutes! Top scorer Jess Stockton fired home two magnificent goals to ensure her side's path to the final. The second half saw Laura Roxby add to the scoreline with a thunderbolt shot which put the icing on the top of an immense all round team performance even though the Belles grabbed a consolation goal in the dying embers of the game. Congratulations to Norton keeper Beth Pounder opposition nominated player of the match.
