Exciting new details have been revealed today for a new seafront playpark and adventure golf course in the North East.

Work on the new family destination in Redcar started Tuesday (September 20) and will include an outdoor nautical-inspired playpark and 18-hole “penguin-themed” golf course.

Details have also emerged on what to expect including sports and coastal events ranging from windsurfing, kiteboarding, horse riding and yoga at the seafront site in Coatham.

To make way for new grassed areas, landscaping, lighting and a re-modelled carpark, some former buildings have been demolished.

This will also include the demolition of the eastern side of the Majuba Road carpark and Coatham Bowl site.

Brand new plans have also been put in place for a hotel and other public realm improvements, but these plans have not yet been revealed.

Cllr Chris Gallacher, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “These exciting plans will transform the seafront into a family destination for activities and provide a wonderful area where families can spend some quality together.

“I’m pleased that progress is being made and residents will soon see a significant improvement to the area, which, with our stunning coastline, and it being so close to the town centre, will become a great place to visit.”
