CHOCOLATE eggs were handed out to the winners of an Easter card competition in Bishop Auckland.
Children from Cockton Hill Infants School, in Bishop Auckland, displayed their designs in the window of nearby Crybec Newsagent for customers to pick the best three.
Reception teacher Deborah Tomkinson said: "We let the children experiment with their own designs and use their own skills.
"It is good to be part of the local community and to get the chance to do this every year."
Gillian Jones, from the newsagent, said: "We usually do this at Christmas time, but it is enjoyable to help customers do the judging and to give out the prizes at the end of it."
Joe Corner, five, won, with Chloe Illingworth, four, and Ruth Walton, four, coming second and third respectively.
