A POLICE authority has invited people to become involved in a consulation to identify the priorities in future policing.

The Durham Police Authority said it was committed to involving the community to help shape its direction for County Durham and Darlington.

Police authority chairman Peter Thompson said: gWe want to know what people think about policing in their area and invite them to work with us in preventing and reducing crime.

gDurham Police Authority is passionate about representing the voice of local communities, in order to make neighbourhoods better places in which to live, work and enjoy free time.

gTo enable us to do that, the police authority, with Durham Police, is holding a series of engagement meetings with the communities we serve.h The Easington police community consultative group will meet at the Dawdon Community Centre, in Queen Alexandra Road, Dawdon, at 7pm, tomorrow.

The Durham police community consultative group will meet at Belmont Community Centre, at 7pm, on Wednesday, April 2.

The Chester-le-Street police community consultative group will meet at Pelton Community Centre, in Front Street, at 7pm, on Thursday, April 24.

The Derwentside police community consultative group, will meet at Blackhill Community Centre, at 7pm, on Monday, April 28.

Interested people are invited to attend the meetings.
