We have a wine this week from Aldi's fine wine range. If Bordeaux is the region for the finest red wines then Pauillac has qualifications for being the best area within it.
This is a typical Medoc wine with aromas of toasted oak, blackberry fruit with hints of blackcurrant. On the palate there's also black pepper and liquorice.
This is a well-balanced wine ready for drinking. It has 12 per cent alcohol and silky tannins. The blend is mostly cabernet sauvignon but there's also 25 per cent merlot and 10 per cent each of petit verdot and cabernet franc.
This is definitely one to try with lamb.
