The Tees Schools County Cup already has four finalists in place with Egglescliffe Explosion through in Y7, Blakeston Bulls in Y9, Norton Knights in Y11 and Nunthorpe Lions in the U14 Girls. Y8, Y10 and U16 Girls will play their semi finals this week.

In the Y10 final Nunthorpe Lions beat Newlands Ninjas 41-29 in a very exciting contest. The first two quarters were very close with Newlands making good use of the tall and athletic George Archen, while talented Christina O'Connor rarely missed on offence. Nunthorpe's defence slowly picked themselves up and by the third quarter the Lions were in a commanding position and 10pt lead going into the fourth and final quarter. Lions continued the pressure with Dan Brown leading the way on 18pts to claim the MVP award. Marshall Patterson was again quiet in the offensive end but crucial on defence and Matty Haynes added 6pts in a good personal performance. Christina O'Connor hit 14 for Newlands and was supported well by Albert Bengo on 9.

Both schools will meet again in the Y8 final which will display some of the most talented players in the area with Dan Brown and Philip Findlay of Lions and Patrick O'Connor, a Y7 player of Newlands.
