A man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman left in hospital after a car left the road and hurtled down a “steep embankment.”

Police were made aware of the crash soon before 10.20pm on Sunday, September 11 between Silpho and Harwood Dale.

A gray Range Rover left Reasty Road, also known as Reasty Hill, and emergency services located it at the bottom of a “steep embankment.”

Police revealed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 38-year-old woman was also taken to hospital with serious injuries following the crash.

Police are now appealing to the public who may have witnessed the incident or seen the Range Rover driving before the crash.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen the Range Rover driving in the area beforehand, or who may have dashcam footage, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with dash camera footage is asked to save their footage for officers to review in due course.
