A heartbroken family are still searching for their dog one year on from her disappearance, with a huge reward on offer for any information which leads to them being reunited.

Gill Scott and partner Nick were walking their three-year-old terrier Flossie between Seaton Sluice and Blyth on September 2, 2021 when the black and tan dog disappeared in the trees. She never returned to her owners, and they suspect she was stolen.

For the past 12 months they’ve campaigned tirelessly for the return of their beloved pet, including offering a £15,000 reward and having their social media posts shared by ITV Vera star Brenda Blethyn.

Now, a year to the day since she disappeared, the family have told The Northern Echo they are still hopeful for Flossie’s return despite being upset that they are no further forward in their search.

Gill told The Northern Echo: “It’s upsetting to revisit it after a year and know that we’re no further forward in our search.

“We’ll be going out tomorrow and putting new posters out where she went missing to hopefully recall people’s memory if they saw anything that day.

“Over the past year we’ve done everything we could think of to try and get her back.”

Their campaign has stirred up huge support on social media, with one user offering an extra £2,500 reward if Flossie was found by last weekend.

Gill added: “Somebody who we don’t even know said they would offer an additional £2,500 if she had been found by last weekend. We don’t even know who they are but it’s very generous.

“Thank you to everyone who has got behind out search over the last year. People are still sending positive messages and messages of support and prayers and it’s so kind.”

In July Gill’s 91-year-old father Jim Scott went viral on social media when he was pictured with a poster calling for Flossie’s return.

The ‘embarrassed but pleased’ pensioner was left devastated when Flossie went missing and made the national newspapers after being retweeted by celebs including Vera actor Brenda Blethyn.

Anyone who has any information about Flossie can find the ‘Flossie is Missing from Blyth’ Facebook group for details of how to get in touch with Gill.
