Yesterday's Leeds Festival line-up was almost as hot as the blistering Summertime weather we have encountered this weekend. Adam Kennedy reports.
If there was one artist in particular who brought the heat, it was Main Stage West headliner Megan The Stallion. Sporting a revealing black PVC outfit and armed with an arsenal of provocative hits, the Leeds crowd went wild for the US-based rapper extraordinaire.

Explosive sets from hard rockers such as All Time Low, Witch Fever, Kid Kapichi, Tigercub and Main Stage East openers Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes were the perfect way to blow off the cobwebs on the second day of the festival.
Carter immediately got to the task at hand venturing into the audience at the top of the set. The acrobatic and somewhat fearless singer is a true showman. At one point, Frank could be seen performing a headstand on top of the crowd, which perhaps you would agree, is not for the faint-hearted.

Elsewhere around the event’s many stages, Glass Animals proved popular with the festival crowd whilst performing on a stage set that was inspired by vintage video games. Of course, there are many new faces to grace the Leeds Festival stages this year.
Having recently been on tour with chart-topping star Dua Lipa, Griff made a lot of new fans on Main Stage East mid-afternoon. Whilst an energetic performance from British duo Piri and Tommy was a hit in the BBC Radio 1 Dance Tent early in the day.
In the latter stages of Saturday, an international array of hip hop stars rocked the event's many stages. British performer Little Simz showcased her star power on the Main Stage East. Whilst US-based rapper Polo G proved to be the perfect pre-cursor as he fired up the crowd for Saturday night headliner Santan Dave.
At just 24 years old, Dave will go down as one of the youngest artists to headline Leeds Festival. Even before the artist had taken to the stage chants of ‘Ohh Tiago Silva’ roared from the huge crowd congregated in front of Main Stage East.
Addressing the audience from the stage, the British rapper declared his affection for the area having performed at Leeds since 2017. Joined on stage at the top of his set by marching drummers and backed by a live band, Dave showcased his spellbinding lyrical prowess and proved that he was the perfect main stage closer. Taking inspiration from one of the artist’s most popular tracks, yesterday at Leeds shall forever be known as Funky Saturday.
Leeds Festival 2022 concludes this evening with headline sets from Arctic Monkeys and hard rockers Bring Me The Horizon.
