A new shop and coffee house has opened its doors on a popular County Durham high street to the delight of residents who have already branded the store a “success”.

Despite only opening on Thursday (August 25), Moss & Ivy @ The Vines has already proved a winner with shoppers on Bishop Auckland’s Newgate Street.

After the Bishop Auckland Town Ambassadors page posted to social media on Thursday (August 25) to tell people about the town’s newest venture, numerous people flocked to congratulate and wish luck to the owners.

One person complimented the store’s coffee by saying: “Went today with my friends and wow nobody was disappointed. Fab fab, fab, on every level. The coffee is the finest,” while another person simply said: “Absolutely gorgeous - decor, food, and drink! Wishing you all the best, couldn't fault it!”

The store, which has now occupied one of the several empty units on Newgate Street, has a home accessories section of the store, while also housing a coffee lounge bar in another section.

Completing the luxurious look, Moss & Ivy also has several tables and chairs outside for people to enjoy a coffee while sat on the high street basking in the last of the summer sun.

Within the store, there is also several shelves of home items, some plants, and home essentials.

The addition of the store comes after several other new stores popped up on Newgate Street and Fore Bondgate, with the town looking to start an ‘independent revolution’ throughout its streets.
