Two days packed full of live music is in store in Darlington town centre this bank holiday weekend.

The Mish Mash Festival returns on both the Saturday and Sunday with a full line-up of live performances covering everything from gypsy folk to flamenco, afrobeat and ska.

There will also be a host of food and drinks stalls celebrating food from around the globe along with interactive workshops to compliment the main stage action.

Headlining the Saturday are the Leeds-based Shades Collective celebrating dance music classics with a full live band and orchestral twist.

They will be playing house, garage, jungle and drum and bass anthems.

There will also be hip hop from Darlington’s Shakk opening the festival, Mathias Skye bringing his own blend of RnB, hip-hop and acoustic sounds, jazzy summer vibes from Newcastle’s Frankie Jobling plus indie 80s influenced dream pop from Club Paradise.

Sunday at Mish Mash Festival focuses more on world music styles staying true to Mish Mash Festival’s roots.

Headliners are the Baghdaddies who will perform a cocktail of Balkan melodies, ska and latin grooves and brass played with furious energy and theatrical humour.

Also gracing Sunday’s stage are Darlington favourites Blind Panic Ceilidh Band, The Belta Rievers playing Geordie folk songs, jazz from Sunnyside Jazz and Bluegrass sounds from The Often Heard.

Live music and workshops run from 1pm until 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The festival has been organised in partnership with Tracks, Big Little Gigs and Darlington Borough Council.

1pm-1.30pm - Shakk - Quality rap from Teesside

1.30pm-2pm - DJ Workshop with Chris Tarn - Learn how to mix and scratch with a professional DJ

2pm-2.30pm - Eve Conway - Folk pop with street swagger from one of Darlington’s own

2.45pm-3.15pm - Musical Storytelling with BIG Little Gigs

3.15pm-3.45pm - Mathius Skye - Mellow Summer hip hop

4pm-4.30pm - DJ Workshop with Chris Tarn 

4.30pm-5.15pm - Frankie Jobling - Neo-soul singer, songwriter influenced by old school soul and jazz

5.45pm-6.30pm - Club Paradise - 80s influenced dream pop

7pm-8pm - Shades Collective - Dance music classics with a full live band and orchestral twist

12.15pm-12.45pm - 6th Street Swing workshop - Angeline from 6th Street Swing will have you on your feet learning the Charleston

1pm-1.30pm - Blind Panic Ceilidh Band - Traditional Ceilidh dance fun with live band and caller

2pm - 2.30pm Birds and Beasts - Rootsy pop and harmonies from this Anglo/German duo

2.30pm-3pm - Musical Storytelling with BIG Little Gigs

3.15pm-3.45pm The Belta Reivers - Stories to tell and a laugh to be had with this folk trio of flute, fiddle guitar and three part harmonies.

4pm - 4.30pm 6th Street Swing-workshop 

4.30pm-5.15pm - Sunnyside Jazz - New Orleans-inspired jazz

2.45pm-3.15pm - Musical Storytelling with BIG Little Gigs

5.45pm-6.30pm The Often Heard - Award-winning Bluegrass band with driving energy, tight vocal harmonies and dazzling instrumental interplay

7pm-8pm Baghdaddies - Balkan melodies, ska and latin grooves and sizzling brass
