Plan have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council to construct two large industrial units and office space for a logistics firm at Morton Park, Darlington.

A statement has been prepared on behalf of BGO Europe IV Logistics UK Steam Propco Ltd to support a planning application at the site on the edge of the A66.

The plans consist of two commercial buildings including access and servicing arrangements, car and cycle parking, landscaping and associated works.

Benefits to the scheme include the creation of between 250 and 520 full-time equivalent jobs, which will generate in the region of £10.3 million and £38 million gross value added within the economy as a whole.

Darlington Brick Train Sculpture, created by David Mach, is located within the eastern boundary of the site, and a public right of way runs inside the eastern and northern boundaries of the site. Both will be retained as part of the development.

Units will be broken up vertically with various elements, and broken horizontally with changes in cladding colours. Large curtain walls will be utilised near the entrances and on frontages.

A planning statement eads: "The design proposals have been developed with due regard to the existing site, its context and surroundings, to create a carefully sited, appropriately sized building which meets the client’s brief.

"The proposals also allow for the best possible access by all modes of transport and encourage travel to the site by means other than car.

"All design proposals contained within this report have been designed to meet the required design and sustainability policies of Darlington Borough Council.

"The proposals represent a high quality development and a substantial investment, which will help to promote and support employment growth and stimulate continued economic investment to the area, cohesive with regional and local aspirations.

"It is anticipated that the development will act as a catalyst for further development to create additional new jobs and investment for the local community."
