Two teenagers caused thousands of pounds worth of damages when they illegally took a luxury car and drove it around a dealer's forecourt before crashing it into another car.

Officers were called to the Mercedes Benz garage on Scotswood Road, in Newcastle, following the incident between 6.20pm on Saturday, June 25 and 7.15pm on Sunday, June 26.

The aggravated vehicle taking resulted in £9,000 worth of damage to two cars.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said two males gained entry to the dealership and took a Mercedez Benz.

They then took turns to ride around the forecourt, before one of them crashed into a stationary car, also parked on the forecourt.

Both vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident, and the culprits fled the area.

An investigation has since been launched and as part of their inquiries police have already spoken to staff and reviewed CCTV.

Today, (August 16) they have issued the descriptions of two youths who were in the area at the time of the incident and could have information that helps.

The first is described as a white male, of skinny build, who is believed to be around 15 years old and was wearing a black tracksuit, grey trainers, green t-shirt and a black jacket with a furred hood.

The second is described as a white male and appears to be around 15 or 16 years of age with medium length black curly hair.

He was wearing a black tracksuit and hoody with red detailing and black trainers. 

The males, anyone who knows them, or anyone with information is asked to contact police using the “Tell us Something” page of Northumbria Police website, quoting crime reference 074922H/22.
