Adrenaline-junkies will have the opportunity to see the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside like never before as a zip wire off the Tyne Bridge is set to open this weekend.

Those brave enough to take on the thrilling ride will fly from the Gateshead side of the Tyne Bridge down onto the Newcastle Quayside, near the Millenium Bridge.

The exciting opportunity is returning to the Tyne for two weekends only at the end of August, with the first dates coming up this weekend.

Those interested can strap in and take a ride over the river on Friday August 19 and Saturday August 20.

There will be another chance to experience the zipline on Friday August 26 – Sunday August 29.

Also being offered on August 20 and 27 is the chance to see the Quayside from the sky at night, with a special ‘twilight experience’ on offer.

Tickets are still available for the thrilling activity, costing just £35 a ride and with slots available throughout the day.

The ride will go from the world-famous Tyne Bridge to the Urban Garden, set on the Newcastle Quayside.

The iconic bridge has hosted zip-wire riders in the past including in 2012 when Bear Grylls famously zip-lined off the iconic bridge carrying the Olympic torch, during the relay ahead of the London Olympic Games.

Tynesiders can also expect to see a spectacle on the Quayside as a flying model cow takes to the skies from the Tyne Bridge at 9am on Friday.

The cow will be first to experience the zip line ahead of two steakhouse workers take the challenge to raise money for charity.
