A grieving mother has slammed sick trolls for sharing doctored images of her murdered son as a skeleton.

The pictures, using Jack Woodley’s face, were sent to his mother Zoey McGill as ten youths were convicted of killing the 18-year-old.

Jack, from Newton Aycliffe, died a day after he was attacked by a gang of youths as he left the Houghton Feast.

One of the distressing images, which The Northern Echo has decided not to publish, shows Jack lying in a coffin.

Mrs McGill said: “This is the kind of things they posted after sentencing, TikTok videos saying ‘haha jacks dead’.

“It is beyond words.”

Northumbria Police has confirmed no further action is being taken against three people arrested during a disturbance at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday.

Ten youths, now aged between 15 and 18, were convicted of murder and sentenced to like with minimum terms between eight and 17 years.

Mrs McGill said hearing the graphic details of how Jack was attacked during the trial earlier this year had taken its toll on her mental health and she had tried to take her own life.

Mrs McGill said the police had been informed about the images.

She said: “They have taken it to another level.

“Sharing this all over the internet is absolutely disgusting.”

Durham Constabulary confirmed an investigation is underway.

A spokeswoman said: "Police were called following reports of malicious communications on Sunday afternoon.

"Enquires are now ongoing."
