Signs have gone up just days before a new shop will open its doors at a County Durham leisure complex.

Skechers in Dalton Park, near Murton, is set to open later this after plans were announced earlier this year.

The retailer, which already has stores at Teesside Park, Metrocentre and Newcastle, prides itself on comfortable yet sporty shoes.

Set to take over two units, shoppers will get to choose from a wide range of shoes for adults, kids and performance.

According to bosses, the new unit will be making its grand opening in Dalton Park at 10am on August 5.

It follows on from a number of new openings in recent months including Crew Clothing, which sells womenswear, menswear, kidswear and footwear.

Meanwhile, Clarks Kids opened its doors on July 8, with a dedicated section for children's stock.

Earlier this year, Skechers was awarded Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year for the second year at the Drapers Footwear Awards 2022.

Skechers was praised by the panel of expert judges for its unique ability to cater to a variety of consumer tastes and they commended the brand.

Peter Youell, managing director of Skechers UK & Ireland, said: "To win the Drapers Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year award two years in a row truly reflects the superior Skechers product, tenacity of the sales teams, and effective marketing that has gone behind solidifying this category in our market.

“We are connecting with millions of consumers across the UK and our partnership with Jamie Redknapp is resonating with both our core audience and a growing segment who respects Jamie. It’s a successful partnership, one that we are happy to see continue, as we also look forward to our men’s business going from strength to strength.”
