Big Brother's Anthony Hutton has expressed his delight after it was confirmed the iconic programme would be returning to our screens next year.

The Darlington barber, who is originally from Consett in County Durham, appeared on ITV's This Morning sofa to discuss the show's epic comeback.

Sitting alongside former Big Brother 3 winner Kate Lawler and Celebrity Big Brother 5 winner 4, Chantelle Houghton, he said he was "over the moon."

However, he had one message for ITV bosses as he made a desperate plea.

Addressing the return, he said: "It's such a nostalgic show, if it's done right, I want them to make it diverse with characters, I was over the moon it's coming back."

The 40-year-old, who rose to fame and success after his 2005 appearance, had called on bosses not to cast influencers or semi-famous people.

Instead, he urged them to go back to basics as the show did when it was on Channel 4 in its early days.

Anthony went on to say: "You don't want loads of almost-famous people like they've got loads of Instagram followers, I want Frank from Wigan who's middle-aged, he's not in the best shape, get a real diverse people in."

And it seems Anthony's remarks were shared by excited fans.

One person said: "Just watched your talk on This Morning, you're all right we want everyday people, not semi-celebrities."
