A Darlington business has closed its doors for the final time, with all of its fixtures and fittings removed.

Post & Packing Darlington has stood at the parade of shops in the Darlington village on Woodland Road for the past four years.

Sandwiched between Cooplands and Cockerton Fisheries, the shop had been a W.H.Smith for around 20 years.

The shop sold newspapers, magazines, stationery, and confectionary, and was also a parcel drop-off point.

The shop closed its doors last Saturday (July 21) and has been spotted completely empty.

It is understood the shop will be replaced by a takeaway selling pizzas and rotisserie chicken, although it is as yet unknown when this new business venture will open.

It comes as another Cockerton business also recently closed its doors. Fennell’s Retro and Vintage shut up shop earlier this month.

The mother and daughter duo opened the Darlington shop in June 2021 and sold clothing, gifts and upcycled furniture, saving countless items from ending up in landfill.
