Captured by Richmond Fire Station, the video was just one of the incidents North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to this week.

In a statement with the video, the fire service revealed that the crew were luckily able to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage.

They added: “Capturing video footage like this is essential in training and prevention work but by sharing it with you it gives an insight into some of the challenges we face during the hot weather.”

Earlier this week the country was rocked by a record-breaking heatwave that saw temperatures reach as high as 40c in parts of the UK.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were forced to declare an, unprecedented, major incident as every appliance was used to tackle large fires across the country.

In a tweet on the evening of Tuesday, July 19, the fire service said: "Declaring a major incident ensures that our partners are aware and lines up to support us if necessary.

"We’re still here to keep you safe and respond to your call if you need us.
