A man was left with a fractured skull and nerve damage to his nose and mouth, which required hospital treatment, after an altercation at Redcar Railway Station.

Officers investigating a violent assault at Redcar station are today releasing CCTV images in connection.

At 8.57pm on Friday, June 3, a verbal altercation broke out between the victims, a man and a woman, and another couple on-board a service to Redcar Station.

A train guard intervened, and the other man and woman on-board were ejected from the train at Redcar station. The victims also got off the train at this station.

The other man and woman met a group of people on the platform, and one member of the group approached the victims and pushed one of them.

The other challenged this, before the group attacked both victims by repeatedly punching and kicking them.

The incident resulted in the man attending hospital for treatment to a fractured skull and nerve damage to his nose and mouth.

Officers believe the people in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.
