Thrill-seekers have been visiting a theme park in the region to become among the first to ride its new super-fast rollercoaster.

Sik is the latest addition to North Yorkshire’s Flamingo Land.

The £18m ride at the Malton attraction had its first visitors today, Saturday, July 2.

With 10 stomach-churning inversions, thrill seekers can expect a white-knuckle ride at speed.

Sik is THE best coaster at Flamingo Land. One of the best in the UK. Terrible name tho.

The attraction has collaborated with fashion brand SikSilk to create the rollercoaster, which has taken three years of work and planning to bring to fruition.

So far, the ride appears to have been met with a largely positive response of social media.

This is what those who have been on the ride have been saying:

@themeparkrealm

Sik at Flamingo Land looks so good! And so far seems to be getting some great reviews, love what they have done with the station too it looks awesome!

@AdamBysouth

We’ve just taken our first rides on SIK. And it’s brilliant.

@ThemeParkWW

We’ve waited a long time for this coaster to open, but the wait has definitely been worth it SIK rides absolutely brilliant! The coaster is smooth, intense and beautifully landscaped with awesome lapbar restraints. Well done @flamingolanduk, it’s a spectacular addition!

Not everyone was so positive however:

Themeing... Sik there is a difference to themeing and decoration (flags) Siks station looks cheap. What did Flamingo Land spend £22 million on? Well 2 barber chairs I suppose.

It comes as just weeks before the opening, the rollercoaster attracted criticism after videos emerged appearing to show crash test dummies falling from the ride.

However, it had been reported that there was no cause for concern and that the test dummies had not been secured properly.
