A PERVERT with a fetish for upskirt photographs of young girls was caught red-handed when customers in coffee shop notice his unsettling behaviour.

Kevin Greenwood was spotted taking pictures of young girls and when police arrived on the scene he was busy deleting the sick images while still sitting in the Middlesbrough cafe.

Teesside Crown Court heard how a subsequent search of mobile phone recovered some of the images before the 59-year-old confessed to watching child sex abuse videos and making his own video of a young girl getting undressed.

Jolyon Perks, prosecuting, said: “He was seen by customers videoing two children who had entered the café and approached the counter. They called the police due to concerns about his activity with his mobile phone.

“He remained at the café but prior to the arrival of the police he did delete the photographs were taken.

“Upon his arrest he told them he had been taking up-skirt pictures of two girls he said - ‘I took photos of their a*** with the phone, which is a creep thing to do’.”

Mr Perks said the defendant then admitted getting a digital tablet loaded with child sex abuse images but he destroyed it when he became upset after watching one video were a small child appeared to be physically hurt.

The charges relating to the recovered child sex abuse images occurred between January 12 and January 14 this year.

In another incident, he admitted surreptitiously videoing a young girl after persuading her to get undressed in front of him but she covered herself with a towel, however, he did also have illicit pictures of her sleeping on a sofa.

A search of his internet history showed that the defendant had a clear interest in underage girls for some time and actively sought out the images, Mr Perks added.

Greenwood, of no fixed abode but formerly of Brotton, east Cleveland, pleaded guilty to three offences of possession of indecent images of children in categories A, B and C, and a further charge of making a video of an underage girl.

Tom Bennett, in mitigation, told the judge that his client had been wearing a GPS monitoring tag since his arrest in January.

He said: “The defendant is somebody who acknowledges he has a problem and needs help with it.”

Judge Howard Crowson sentenced the defendant to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years to helpo address his fetish for upskirt pictures of young girls.

He added: “Analysis of your electronic devices revealed what are known as ‘creep shots’ photographs from behind of women or up their skirts, it was also clear you had searched for child sex abuse child deliberately.”

Greenwood was also ordered to attend 55 rehabilitation activity requirement days and to sign on the sex offender’s register for ten years.

He was also made subject of a ten-year sexual harm prevention order to curb his online activities.
