A boy aged 11 and a 40-year-old man have sustained serious injuries in an incident in Harrogate today.

North Yorkshire Police are currently at the scene of the incident in Beckwithshaw, to the south-west of Harrogate.

Officers were called to a property in Church Row, Otley Road, at 8.20am today (Monday June 20) and on arrival found the boy and man both with serious injuries believed to be sustained by a blade.

Both have been taken to hospital.

The road was closed while emergency services attended the property, and police say it will remain closed for several hours.

A police spokesman confirmed that the incident is not connected to a nearby school.
